Membership and Licensing
Ok here's the deal, My son is going to be 16 on the 15th of April the driving school is on April 20/21 and 22, it is a double school.
I have him in the necessary driving school to obtain his Ohio drivers license and I'm confident he will pass the test on the 17th of April, "the first appointment available"
Now I have a family membership to the SCCA and I will be taking the school as well to obtain my SCCA license but will my son need to have a membership to the SCCA as well or will my family membership cover him ???
I know of the First Gear program, $35 + ? but that would be 2 memberships for the same family.
Now to answer some of the inevitable questions and responses, I have raced stock cars and my son and I have been racing karts for the past 5 years, he does very well at the regional and national level and we plan to continue to run the national level racing with the karts.
So far SCCA licensing procedure makes WKA look simple...lol
Thank you for you time and understanding

We'll be running in the ITC and ITB classes both VW's

Driver's license
Racing license is not that complicated. You will need: Proof of membership, current physical (form can be downloaded from scca.com or from your region's license rep), you will need to get a novice permit (two passport size photos) from your regional rep or direct from Topeka. The novice permit is good for two year and can be held to complete all requirements up to a National license.
Your son is a minor and you will need to contact Janet Farwell at Topeka as all minor licensing is handled by SCCA home office.
There is a double driver's school at Nelson Legdes April 20-23 put on by Mahoning Valley go to kryderacing.com for more information.

Maurice,
Thanks for your prompt attention to my license. If only Topeka were as on the ball as you!
