Permanent Regional Numbers
- Forums:
I read on the Improved Touring site, Cen-Div region forum, that permanent race numbers are available for both National and Regional participants. My question is this: Are permanent numbers available to GLD regional competitors? If so, where do I get the form to apply for my number?

GLDiv has a program for
GLDiv has a program for reserved numbers. The information can be found at http://www.greatlakes-scca.org/node/49
Note that the regional-only classes are not recognized in the class structure for reserved numbers. We used to have a regional reserved number program, but it was dropped because some regions were not honoring the reserved numbers.

Permanent Regional Numbers
I would like you guys to get this straighten out, I would like to reserve my number for my ITB car, separating the SCCA with all this regional / national stuff seems ridiculous to a new guy like me.
It's funny how even in a small society like the SCCA you will have members that feel superior to others in that same society simply because they have spent more money to do the same thing that we all do.
And we are suppose to be the most intelligent animal on the earth...
Reserved numbers only work
Reserved numbers only work if the groups are consistent from race to race. At Nationals, the schedule and groupings are fairly consistent because the GCR places certain criteria on a National race. On the other hand, individual regions are free to construct Regional races pretty much as they choose. I used to have an ITC car. At one region's race, ITC might be grouped with ITS and several Production classes. At another region's race, ITC might be grouped with ITB and ITA.
It's not a matter of some members feeling superior. It _was_ a matter of many regions not honoring the reserved numbers at Regional races. When we had a reserved number program for the regional-only classes, guys were paying money to reserve numbers and then not getting those numbers because some regions ignored the program. That resulted in a lot of hard feelings. So, the program was dropped. If you would like to see it re-instated, talk to your Regional Executive.
