INR national race cancelled

The 11th annual 1st Great Lakes Division National Race at GingerMan Raceway,April 26-27, has been canceled. Please help us spread the word throughout the racing and race volunteer communities so nobody wastes their time,money,effort getting to a non-event. We at INR are sorry that this happened, but we just did not have enough entries. Info at www.inr-scca.org

Sorry to bring you the news but the INR board has
decided to cancel the first national at GingerMan 4/26
& 27. A combination of high costs and low
pre-registration have caused us, reluctantly, to reach
the conclusion that this is the best choice of action
for our region. Our hope is to put the event back on
the schedule next season. The event had run for about
50 years at Indy or GingerMan so it was not a decision
that was easily reached.

I first read this on the S2 Forum and wondered why anyone would be surprised. Some of us need the snow to melt so we can get out to our cars, thus making early spring events a flog. And the weather at this event has been... ah, challenging the last few years. Do you remember the snowman holding a flag pictures? Yep, this event. Being a life-long Michigan resident (complaining, not bragging!) - I always wondered about the wisdom of this event's place on the schedule. I bet Gingerman (and South Haven) are LOVELY in June and July...

Yes, South Haven is very nice in June and July. Which is why thousands of folks flock to the area on weekends thus driving up the hotel prices in the area to roughly double what they are during the off season.

Interesting logic... So SCCA participants don't deserve (can't afford?) Gingerman when its at its BEST? Drivers, workers and crew have to stand in the snow so we can all save a few bucks? Sorry, I throw away FIA approved harnesses and helmets every 5 years which are stored indoors and only used four or five times a year. SCCA concern about my money makes me laugh out loud...

It will be interesting to see what happens with races both National & Regionals this season , what with increasing cost of entries and fuel for towing to events, lodging, food ect.
