Be Afraid....I will dominate you all!!

Just kidding. I just thought the first post here should have a little smackage.

Looking forward to the new division. With a little luck, I'll get to travel to many of the divisional events in '07.

Cute

As siteadmin, I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw this new forum topic. Whew!

Glad to have you on board and I hope this site will be a useful resource for the Solo community. But Dayle (the webmaster) and I need your input. What do Soloists want to see on the site? What information or features will help you?

Bob...

Ben cracks me up!!! This is

Ben cracks me up!!! This is right on par for him to start the very 1st thread in that way. LOL

Like Ben, I hope to attend a few more divisional level events as well to get me ready for my 1st nationals showing in Sept. :-)

Best of luck as the siteadmin! It is going to be a fun 1st year for the GLD!!

Since you ask, here is what

Since you ask, here is what I am hoping to get out of this site:

First and foremost, GLD event information. It would very much like to see information/discussion about schedules, venues, etc. I would like to make more divisional events next year and it would be nice to have a place to find out about necessary prep, hotels, etc from those who live there.

It would also be nice if those who make the schedules/etc would ask for input from the community. Perhaps on-line polls can help determine the center of the "Solo mass" for the new division to help organizers choose locations.

I know at least a couple of the regions already have active online communities so I wouldn't expect this to replace that. It's just nicer than lurking on a mailing list as I did before.

Cheers,
Ben

PS...don't worry, I'm sure I'll scare you some more along the way. :)

We'll post what we get

Our basic philosophy is that our job is to deliver the content that others provide. We have many different events in GLDiv all organized by individual event chairmen or committees. When they have their information together, we'll be glad to post it. There is one exception: If it's a regional event and the region web site is hosting the event flyer or registration form or whatever, we'd prefer to link from the GLDiv site to the proper page on that region's web site. That makes the people closest to the organizational details of the event responsible for the correct information and it avoids duplication of effort and file storage.

As for the division's plans for Solo next year, that's in the hands of the divisional solo steward and the solo community.

Bob...

Divisional series schedule?

I have to have my vacation hours request in by Jan 15, so I had hoped the series schedule would have been posted by now so that I could use my vacation hours to attend more than my usual 1 or 2 events. I doubt I'm the only person who needs to set their vacations early in the year, so perhaps the schedulers could take this into consideration in the future. Sorry to whine but I'm disappointed . I've always been completely happy with the Cendiv events I've attended and I'm sure the new series will be great also.

The former CenDiv Solo

The former CenDiv Solo Series has transformed into the Great American Solo Series which will include events in both CenDiv and GLDiv. They have a schedule posted on their web site (http://solo2.cendiv-scca.org/), but I don't think they've communicated dates to us.

GLDiv - only holding a championship

Bill,

At the RoundTable, it was decided that, rather than run a series, the GLDiv will only hold a single championship event in August.

I believe OVR volunteered to host it.

RE: Divisional Solo The

RE: Divisional Solo

The GASS series still hasn't announced a schedule. But I expect they will before GLDiv Spring Training. I know at least a few regions within GLDiv have submitted bids for events. So I would expect to see a 2007 GASS series.

As a note: the series (Formerly CenDiv) has never consisted of Divisional events, only a collection of regional events. The only exceptions was 2005 when they didn't have 8 regional events they used the Divisional event at Peru as part of the series.

The soon-to-be confirmed GLDiv Solo Steward is planning to hold a single divisional event (sanctioned Divisional Solo), very much like CenDiv in past years. I don't believe any single region will be hosting it. It will likely be a collaborative effort including several regions. The site is still TBD.

Once a site is chosen, more details can be announced, probably before Spring Training.
