Race Schedule for 2007

It sure would be nice to once again see what has tentatively been scheduled. What's the deal with not just posting it as tentative??

For those who have additonal work and family responsibilities outside of SCCA activities, being able to plan for the forthcoming year is very critical. No where in the bi-laws of SCCA does it say that the schedule has to be FINAL to be posted on the events calendar. As we enter into this new Great Lakes Division, remember that the Division is made up of ALL the members and the Club Racers have made siginifigant investments to perpetuate this portion of the Division's operation.

Thanks for listenting to me vent, but I will bet you a used Hoosier SO3 nothing will happen until it is FINAL.

tentative is on other sites

found this on another forum but they said it was tentative and subject to change. but it is better than nothing for submitting vacation requests for 2007 by 12/31/06:

http://www.kryderacing.com/mvrweb/2007raceschedule.html

Not official

That page on Kryderacing's web site unfortunately does not say that it's not official or that what they have posted is tentative.

The facts of the matter are this: when the offical schedule has been provided to the webmaster by the Divisional Scheduling Representative, it will be posted here. The official schedule will be posted here and on the SCCA web site. Any schedule you see elsewhere is not official.

I have made some inquiries to find out why we don't have a schedule. GCR 3.2.4 says that the final schedule should have been submitted to the national office by December 1st.

As for why a tentative schedule is not posted here, the problem in the past is that folks have taken tentative schedules as gospel only to have dates change. Then they yell at the webmaster. It's a darned if you, darned if you don't situation.

As soon as Dayle or I get the schedule, we'll post it. Thank you for your patience.

Bob...

the link on their main page

the link on their main page that links to that page says it is tentative and subject to change. that is why in my post here i also stated that it is tentative.

i understand that this is changing but i also would like to submit ny first come/first serve style vacation request for 2007 based on something and adjust as needed since some of the dates might stay the same.

More news

I am told by the scheduling rep that one of the tracks in the division, which happens to the site of several events, will not finalize their 2007 schedule until 15-Dec-2006. Hopefully, we'll get something then.

Bob...

Rule 3.2.4 uses the word

Rule 3.2.4 uses the word "shall" not "should". This is now the Dec. 10th. I read what you wrote about the "tracks", but...?

You are correct, Gary. And

You are correct, Gary. And "shall" is mandatory. The scheduling rep says that she's talked to the national office about this and they are cutting the division some slack.

One of the problems with submitting a schedule with tentative dates is that apparently the national office charges the division if a date is changed after the "final" schedule is submitted.

Bob...

OK, so what's the problem?

Post an official schedule for the Division. List the dates for events at "that track" as "tentative". Is that a big deal? I too would also like to schedule my time off from work as it's "first come, first serve" and ***SHALL*** be in before the first of the year!

Last I saw, this is now called the "Great Lakes Division", not the "insert track name here" Division, contrary to what some folks around here believe.

Why is there so much

Why is there so much defensiveness about the schedule when the orginal poster simply asked the question of about when he would expect the schedule to be published. Please re-read the orginal post. The question that was answered was why it was not published. Can you simply answer the orginal question and we can then plan forward from that?

Me, too.

Count me among those asking for a tentative schedule to go by. Other divisional websites have done this over the past few years. Many of us need to plan ahead for 2007 now if we want to go racing. Juggling work, family sports and activities and personal vacations is difficult, at best. Sooner is better.

calendar

The 'calendar' section of the site is now populated with events so one can view the events and sort them.
